Online bidding for specialist Doctors in Karnataka to serve in rural areas

Prime News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, and July 4:- The Health Ministry in Karnataka put up a website to specialist Doctors to quote pay package to serve in rural areas.

We have all seen inviting bids for executing various projects by government and private companies, here comes the bidding invited from Doctors to quote their pay package to serve in rural Karnataka.

Karnataka Governments Health Ministry website invited bids from Doctors. The Health Minister KR Ramesh Kumar told reports that “As a last resort the government comes up with the proposal to attract Doctors to serve in rural areas”.

The proposal comes in the backdrop of the government has exhausted all the avenues to overcome the shortage of specialists to recruit in government hospitals in rural areas.

The government willing to pay salaries up to 1.25 lakh per month, still Doctors unwilling to join rural duty, it is up to Doctors to quote their satisfied pay package. If the quoted package accepted the Doctors will be appointed, said Health Minister.

Furnishing the figures, the Health Minister said, the total number of posts sanctioned is 3,435, out of this there is a shortage of 1.035 posts for specialists Doctors.

The Karnataka government tried in vain to overcome the shortage of specialists Doctors by invoking legal provisions against post graduate doctors who availed the government quota and refused to serve in rural areas.
The health ministry issued advertisement with the tagline ‘Nimma Quote Namma Post’ meaning Your Quote, Out Post offering the pay package of Rupees 1.3 lakh per month for high priority districts and Rupees 1.1 lakh per month for non-priority districts.

As the bids arrive in, the health ministry will negotiate with applicants, once agreed by both parties the appointment will be done, says health ministry officials.
