A six months ‘Online certificate course in school librarianship (CCSL) was held at RIE Mysuru, coordinated by S Nagaraja, librarian, RIE Mysuru.
The course developed by a team of experts in school librarianship invited from all over the country at RIE Mysuru. The entire course material was made available on moodal e- learning platform for the benefit of the participants and the first batch of 15 students from Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh successfully completed their online course on July recently.
With an objective to develop essential professional skills and competencies among the participants to plan and acquire good collection of materials for school library, organise and manage school library effectively and efficiently, provide better library services to school children and teachers in web environment., nurture culture of reading among school children and initiate collaborative learning, provide web resources, and organise information literacy programmes for the effective use of digital and web resources the course was conducted.
The target group of this online course was school librarians, in-charge librarians, teacher librarians, administrative staff of primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary schools and individuals who have an interest to opt for school librarianship as a profession may join. The second contact programme was inaugurated by Prof D G Rao, Principal, RIEM recently.
