Only education can free women from exploitation: Dr Hema

“Even in the so-called advanced 21st century, women are not free from exploitation. Only education can liberate women from exploitation,” said renowned writer Dr Hema Pattanashetty.

She was addressing at the valedictory of the two-day state level women’s science convention on Monday evening.

“Women should not be bound to homes. They should achieve in all walks of life. Women should not be satisfied being a mere housewife and should not restrict themselves to the four walls of the house. Women have the tendency of watching more of astrology-related programmes and TV serials, which cause negative mindset. Women should come out of it to build a better society,” she said.

“We should learn to protect ourselves from all sorts of dangers. We should get ready to face the exploitation of women and such conventions help them to build a scientific mindset,” she opined.

Former Vice Chancellor of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga, Dr P Venkataramanaiah, Vasundhara Bhupathi, Dr B M Venkatesh and others were present.
