The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing is observing ‘Open Day’ on February 3. The theme for the open day is ‘Equality of Opportunity’. On this day, the institute and its departments are open to schoolchildren, college students and general public from 9.30 am to 4 pm.
The aim of the Open Day is to educate the public and young minds to issues related to communication and its disorders. An exhibition has been arranged at ‘Knowledge Park’ of the institute to educate school children and visitors on hearing mechanism, speech production, prevention and management of communication disorders, harmful effects of noise and vocal hygiene. The visitors may get themselves evaluated for speech, language, hearing, reading and writing disorders.
Various competitions, including painting, quiz, debate, elocution, maths and memory on aspects of speech and hearing will be held for school and college students. Fun games such as Tap Your Visual Memory, Cocktail Word Recognition, Auditory Processing Games, Stroop Task and Spellathon have also been arranged.
