Open Source Lab inaugurated at VVCE

Mysuru, May 16:- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), has setup an Open Source Lab.

The inaugural function was graced by Chief Guest, Dr  Anil Kumar K.M, Professor, SJCE, Mysuru, Dr B Sadashive Gowda, Principal, VVCE and Dr A B Rajendra, HOD, CSE, VVCE.

The event was coordinated by Open Source Lab Coordinators – Prof Prashanth Kumar K N, Assistant Professor, CSE, VVCE and Prof Charunayana V,Assistant Professor, CSE,VVCE.

The Chief Guest delivered a technical talk on “Open Source Software and Hardware” and emphasized the importance of open source in IT industries and encouraged the students to accelerate the growth of the lab by contributing innovative projects.

The Open Source Lab is setup with a vision to create a community of excellent programmers and increase awareness about open source.Open Source Lab is open to all students and faculties of VVCE and will function as a library for open source software and hardware.  During the event, the students of IV semester, CSE demonstrated one of the innovative project “Remote Display”, developed using the Raspberry Pi 3 platform available in the lab, which is implemented with the objective of displaying instant news, messages, images and videos on the remote display.
