Mysuru, December 23:- “Opposition parties are misleading several communities over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Public should not listen to such rumours,” said Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Dr C N Ashwath Narayan.
He was speaking to media persons in the city on Sunday.
“Opposition parties are trying to mislead public for their gains. Minorities should not have any worry over this. CAA applies to those who come from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Some people are unnecessarily misleading public for politics. The Act is implemented to protect the Hindus who are being harassed in those countries. Those who have come from those countries before 2014 are getting citizenship,” he said.
“Newly elected MLAs have taken oath. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will take a decision on giving them position in the government,” he said.
Responding to more leaders aspiring to become DCMs, he said it is up to the chief minister and the party high command to take a call on the issue. (MR/KS)
