Opposition to merger of KHSC with CIIL

Mysuru, December 30:- Kannada Kriya Samithi has asked the state government not to allow the merger of Kannada Higher Studies Centre with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL). In their letter to CIIL director Venkatesh Murthy, they said, “KHSC came into existence some 10 years back but it is yet to get recognition. Though there were some hopes, going by what is happening now, it looks like KHSC will be closed for good.”

The memorandum said, “We have come to know that there is a strong move to merge KHSC with CIIL. This will be a setback to the growth of Kannada.  Any such move should be shelved immediately. KHSC should be developed as a separate entity.”

P Mallesh, S R Sudarshan, Prof K S Bhagawan, Prof Krishnamurthy Hanur, Prof Kalegowda Nagawara, Prof Panditaradya, Dr Manohar, N Diwakar, Ugra Narasimhegowda and G P Basavaraju were present. (MR/KS)
