The Orchids Public School celebrated its 15th annual day at Kalamandir in the city recently.
Dr Dharani Devi Malagatti K, Deputy Director of Karnataka Police Academy, inaugurated the programme. Addressing the gathering, she appreciated the inauguration which was an amalgamation of tradition and modern methods. She admired the school for concentrating on overall development of students. She emphasized the need for genuine efforts needed by schools, teachers and parents to bring in the value based education system.
Film actress Padmaja Rao, who presided over the function, appreciated the students and teachers for their efforts in making the programme successful. She requested the students to give importance to cultural activities in schools along with studies.
‘Avishkar, the journey continues’ was the theme of the annual day where the beauty of science was seen in the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. It was done in a unique way by dropping metal ball in water which lit the lamp. Karavali Utsava was the spotlight. The students of the school enthralled the audiences with popular dances of South Canara and it was a fusion of Huli Vesha, Kandeelu, Bhoota Kola, Theyyam and Naga Mandala.
Class toppers and inter school competition winners were honoured with merit certificates on the occasion. Shivaji Rao Jadav, School Secretary. Ullas Pandit, Principal, Yeshoda Pandit, Vice- Principal, Chethana S, Head Master Suresh and others were present.
