Two libraries sponsored by students of college, NGO opened in city

Two school libraries in city set up by students of a private college and by an NGO was inaugurated in the city on Friday.

Two libraries one in Siddarthanagar at the foot of Chamundi Hills by SDMIMD students’ group — Library Initiative for Education (LIFE) and the other at Rajendranagar developed by Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP) was launched.

Speaking after inaugurating the library, SDMIMD Dean Jagadeesh said “These initiatives make younger generation more responsible and create awareness to lend an helping hand for societal needs. This will also help the students of management to learn the managerial skills.”

The second library which was opened at Rajendranagar Government High School was developed by Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP). The members of the NGO came to know about the plight that even if there were 130 students studying in the high school, there was no library for them

Inaugurating the new library, Deputy Director of Department of Public Instructions (DDPI) H R Basappa said “I welcome the gesture of the NGO and private institutions to set up libraries. This will encourage the students to study more and give them more opportunities to read from vivid range of books.”
