Pailwan Ramalingaiah is dead

Mysuru, May 27:- Pailwan R Ramalingaiah, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in the city, passed away on Tuesday.

He was 92 years old. He was known as the first Dalit wrestling referee of the city. An employee of the Indian Railways, Ramalingaiah continued his activities in wrestling after his retirement. He worked as a referee in all the wrestling tournaments held at Sahukar Chennaiah Kushti Akhada here for 4 decades. He was also an ustad at Gandhi Nagar garadi. He was honoured with a gold medal when Veerendra Patil was the chief minister.

His final rites were held at Adi Karnataka graveyard of Gandhi Nagar. He is survived by 2 daughters and 3 sons.
