The cultural capital of Karnataka, Mysuru is gearing up for a grand Dasara this year. It is going to be a green Dasara this year as the theme of the year is water conservation.
This year, the Dasara committee has promised to be vibrant and innovative which will also include a special trip on ‘the palace on wheels’, a special Volvo bus that has come up in association with Karnataka State tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). This will be an added attraction for the tourists coming from all over India and the world, apart from special tours on chartered planes and helicopters.
As the tourists are unaware of every palace in Mysuru, the ‘Palace on Wheels’ will be useful in promoting these palaces. This would be a package tour in a Volvo bus, starting from Mysuru Palace to Jaganmohan Palace, followed by lunch at the Lalitha Mahal Palace after which the tourists would be taken to the Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion on Manasagangotri campus, which houses the folk museum.
At Latitmahal Palace, the tourists have an opportunity to dine at affordable prices as the package comes in around Rs 800 including food, entry fee to the palaces and the bus fare. Later they will be taken to Chittaranjan Palace, Cheluvamba Palace, Karanji Mansion, Vasanth Mahal Palace, Chamundi Vihar Palace, and Lokranjan Palace.
The tour will end with cultural evening in front of the illuminated Aloka Palace at Yelwal, and the project will be implemented by the KSTDC. tourists visiting Mysuru will get to explore the palaces in the city.
District in-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa, who announced the concept, has said that it is an attempt to promote tourism and facilitate the visitors to explore the other palaces of Mysuru as well.
