Paralympic volleyball: India blank Sri Lanka 2-0

Continuing their dominance in the second clash as well, Indian para volleyball team won the 2nd Para Volleyball India-Sri Lanka Peace Tournament (Standing), defeating team Sri Lanka 3-0 at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium here on Sunday.

The two-match series was organised by the Paralympic Volleyball Federation of India (PVFI) in association with the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.

The host team proved too good for Sri Lankan players to handle, as Indian players outsmarted their opponents with exceptional attacking and setting skills. While Rajesh, Ashok and Nishanth displayed excellent attacking skills, Muthu and Rajkumar came out with brilliant setting skills to pave way for a comfortable lead 25-16 at the end of the first set.

Later in the second and third sets, Indian players continued to perform well, winning the two sets 25-17 and 25-16. In the later stage of the game, setters Raghavendra and Satish displayed good setting skills.

Rajesh who came out with outstanding attacking skills was adjudged as the best all-rounder and Muthu as best attacker in the tournament. Raghavendra and Satish were jointly declared as best in libero. The two-match peace tournament concluded on Sunday.
