Mysuru, November 21:- “Parents should stop making assets for their children and instead make their children assets for the society,” said chairman of Mysuru paints and varnish, H A Venkatesh.
He was speaking at Makkala Habba – 2017, organised by district administration, Zilla Panchayat Balavikasa Academy Dharwad and Women and Children Development department at Vanaranga of Rangayana on Tuesday.
“It is essential to make them assets for the society. Parents should know in which field their child is interested and talented. They should not force them to do medical or engineering. They should be allowed to pursue what they want to. Government has provided children with all the required facilities. Let’s make our children assets for future,” he added.
“Children are the future of India. Unfortunately, there are more than 1,000 children who are working as labours in Mysuru district alone. It is a very serious issue. Children should be brought up in the right way. Their rights should not be snatched away,” said zilla panchayat member Dr Pushpa Amaranath.
ZP president Nayima Sultana inaugurated the programme. Karnataka Zoo Authority chairperson Mallige Veeresh, deputy director of women and children welfare department, Radha, H T Kamala and others were present. (MR/GK).
