Mysuru, June 4:- Parivarthanam Trust in the city observed World Environment Day by planting saplings on Monday.
Environmentalists were identified and honoured on the occasion.
Corporator M V Ramaprasad and Nataraj Jois inaugurated the programme by planting saplings at Freedom Fighters Park in the city.
“We have to understand the purpose of observing Environment Day. Banyan tree absorbs one tonne of impurities and provides oxygen. Plants should be taken care like a child,” said Ramaprasad.
Nataraja Jois called upon the youths to take a pledge to protect the environment.
Sridhar Murthy, K R Rajeev, Rajendra Prasad, Basavaraj, Rajashekhar, Deepak, Suresh, A Santosh, H V Bhaskar and Pradeep Gowda were felicitated.
