Karnataka Legislative Assembly Opposition leader K S Eshwarappa is upset over his party president and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for what he called indiscriminate appointment of party ground-level office bearers across the state.
“While selecting morcha-level leaders and other office bearers, Yeddyurappa took decisions on his own and did not even discus with the core committee. There are many senior leaders in the core committee and we were not consulted. This has made many party supporters unhappy and we have to take their feelings seriously in order to fight the next elections,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Eshwarappa was in the city and he chaired the review committee meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. He expressed disappointment at Yeddyurappa for side-lining genuine supporters of the party. “Yeddyurappa has given party organisation posts to only those people who are loyal to him and not to the party,” he said.
“We have enrolled thousands of candidates across the state during previous general elections and had given responsibility to genuine workers for organizing support in favour of the BJP. However, Yeddyurappa’s stance of giving responsibility for his favourite candidates has led to widespread dissatisfaction,” he said.
“I am not questioning Yeddyurappa’s calibre. But while giving opportunities to strengthen the party across the state, Yeddyurappa has to take into confidence all leaders and efforts must be made to identify genuine party workers,” he said.
