Prime News, May 31:- Parvathamma Rajkumar, a veteran Kannada film producer and wife of late legendary actor Dr Rajkumar passed away at the age of 77, on Wednesday morning, here.
She breathed her last at M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru where she was treated for multiple organ complications from the past few days.
The hospital release said that Parvathamma was a known case of breast cancer that had spread to liver and lungs. Her kidney functions had also compromised.
“Parvathamma had a cardiac arrest at 4:30 am, despite all active measures, she failed to respond and she was declared dead at 4:40 am,” said Dr Naresh Shetty, president of M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital.
Parvathamma who is considered as the driving force behind the success of Dr Rajkumar is also credited for producing nearly 80 super hit films. She also has credits of introducing actresses Prema, Ramya, Malasree, Rakshita, Sudharani , Shruthi and many others.
Parvathamma was born at Saligrama in K R Nagar taluk of Mysuru district in Karnataka on December 6, 1939 to Appaji Gowda and Lakshmamma. Parvathamma married Rajkumar at the age of 13 on June 25, 1953.
She established a family firm for film production called Vajreshwari Combines and also distributed films under Poornima Enterprises.
Pravathamma’s body will be placed at Poorna Pragna Grounds at Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru for people to pay their last respects. Her body will be buried at Kanteerava Studios, next to Dr Rajkumar’s grave.
Son of Parvathamma and actor Raghavendra Rajkumar said that his mother’s eyes were donated as per his late father’s wish. Rajkumar, who passed away in 2006, too had donated his eyes.
