Mysuru, May 2:- Pathi Foundation in the city felicitated newspaper distributors on Wednesday to mark World Worker’s Day.
Paper Manjunath, Paper Chetan and Paper Manjanna, who work as newspaper vendors, were honoured by the foundation.
“The Labour Act was introduced on May 1, 1881. The number of working hours was declared as eight. The Worker’s Day was first observed in the United States of Americia on May 1, 1986, and it is being observed in India since 1923. Unorganised labour class is still struggling in the society,” said Parthasarathy of Pathi Foundation.
Social worker Vikram Iyengar, Janata Dal (Secular) leader Ajay Shastry, Harish Naidu, Lakshman, Chandrashekhar, Srinivas Prasad and Nagesh were present. (MR/KS).
