Mysuru, May 23:- In a unique way to press for their demands, pourakarmikas will hold broomstick movement in all the district centres of the state,” said president of the committee of pourakarmikas, N Mara.
He was addressing a press meet at the Mysuru Press Club on Tuesday.
“The state government had promised last year to make all the contract pourakarmikas permanent employees. But the promise has remained a promise. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah keeps saying tender system would be abolished, but he has not taken any action against it. Pourakarmikas are suffering with a bleak future staring at them,” he added.
“To oppose the state government’s negligence, pourakarmikas will stage broomstick movement on May 25 all over the state. If the government doesn’t solve the problems by June 12, we will resort to indefinite protest,” he said.
Members of the Tender Basis Purakarmikas’ Association N Narasimha, R Vijay, K Palani, Kumaraswamy, Srinivas T and others were present. -(MR/LG).
