People are losing interest in literature: TK Chinnaswamy

Mysuru, November 14:- “People are not attending book release programmes as they used to do earlier. People are losing interest in reading,” said former MLA T K Chinnaswamy.

He was speaking after releasing books of Sri Sainath Publication at the Rotary auditorium here on Wednesday.

“Nowadays, people don’t attend book release programmes. The situation has become so bad that people have to be brought to book release events forcefully. I have attended book release events in foreign countries also. Though those countries are small, readers are many. It takes a lot of time to write a book. I appreciate Boregowda for the books he has written. Children like stories. When we were kids, our grandparents used to tell us stories. Later,  we started reading Ramayana and Mahabharata. Nowadays, it is difficult to make kids read books,” he added.

Appaswamy of Sainath Publication, head of Kannada Department of Sarada Vilasa College Dr Vimalashri and others were present. (MR/GK)
