People-friendly ‘Beat Police’ distribute visiting cards to Mysuru residents

Beat Police visiting cards introduced for the first time in Mysuru and Karnataka

Mysuru, December 12:- To promote a more effective people-friendly police force, the Police Department has introduced a new beat system from April 1, 2017.

The zones have been divided based on the number of constables available at each Police Station. Every beat is provided with a head constable and a constable. They are given the responsibility of the zone and they directly report to ASI and higher police officials. They also work as a bridge between the Police Department and the public. Two beat meetings are held with the people every month in the locality.

To make the system more effective, lakhs of visiting cards have been printed for the ‘Beat Police’ and the same is being distributed to the public. The visiting card features the name, photograph and mobile number of the beat policeman in-charge, both in Kannada and English languages. This will be helpful for the people to reach the Beat Police easily. The new system has been introduced for the first time in Karnataka and in Mysuru. Commissioner of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwara Rao requested the public to make use of the system. (KS, NGB)
