The heat of currency exchange has hit the Mysureans and it has hit them hard. Thousands of people were seen queuing up outside banks from the dawn of Thursday. Though the government has announced that banks will be operating on Saturday and Sunday, the public seem to be in a rush to get hold of the new currency.
On the other hand, the banks are also prepared for the excessive work that awaits them in the coming days, said Mahadev, a bank employee.
All the banks across the city are having a busy day, with some banks also opening extra counters to help the consumers. The consumers are asked to fill a separate application to exchange the currency notes at the bank. Consumers are also asked to carry any of their identity proof such as Aadhar card, voter Id, driving licence or PAN card for any kind of transactions.
