People will decide whether they want regional party or not: HD Deve Gowda

Mysuru, April 30:- “Our state is in need of a strong regional party’s governance. People of the state will decide whether they want a regional party or not in the coming Assembly elections on May 12,” said former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda at a press meet held at a private hotel here on Sunday.

“H D Kumaraswamy has prepared a list. He has included Chamundeshwari constituency in the list. G T Devegowda himself is a man to reckon with in Chamundeshwari. He is strong enough to defeat any opponent. I will campaign for him. It is difficult for Siddaramaiah to win in Chamundeshwari constituency. That’s why he has gone to Badami. I have many examples to explain Congress’ bad governance,” he said.

“There is no connection between IT raid and the election. They are doing their duty. We are being portrayed as anti-Muslims. When did Idgah and Dattapeetha incidents take place? Didn’t they do homa at Dattapeetha when S M Krishna was the chief minister and T B Jayachandra was the minister? Where was Siddaramaiah in 1983? Who lifted him in his political career?,” the JD(S) supremo asked.

Responding to Siddaramaiah’s statement that JD(S) is not coming to power, Gowda said time will decide.

“I only brought Ambareesh to politics. He had resigned to his post during the Cauvery protest. Can Congress come to power if Rahul Gandhi comes to campaign in Karnataka?” he asked.

“My father named me Gowda. I didn’t do any harm to any community. Unfortunately, I have many backstabbers, maybe due to the sins of my previous life. Wait and watch what the people of Karnataka will gift me on my birthday,” Gowda added.

“Let Rahul Gandhi become the Prime Minister. People will decide his fate. We will govern the state leaving behind the BJP and the Congress. There are several agencies who say we will win fewer seats, which doesn’t bother us,” he said. (MR/KS).
