The representatives of our society must think in the right direction to provide gainful employment to the millions of youngsters, said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep.
He was speaking at the late M Mallikarjunaswamy Endowment Lecture-2017, organised by the Department of Studies in Political Science, University of Mysore, in the city on Monday.
He said “India’s population comprises the maximum youths, when the younger generation is physically and mentally fit, a country can progress and develop. Youngsters must develop skills in learning and also give importance to their all-round growth and development.”
“Both literature and politics has historical and mythical element in it. The youths must not just study to earn a degree, but should refer Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Chanakya’s Arthashastra to get in depth knowledge of the political system. This helps them build their leadership and attitude; and also get a foretaste of the politics in mythology,” he added.
Prof at Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies Dr N K Lolakshi spoke on ‘literature and politics.’ Dr Shekar Mallikarjunaswamy, former Deputy Registrar, University of Bangalore; K M Mahadevappa and others were present.
