Permission is only for green crackers: MCC Assistant Commissioner Nagaraj

Mysuru, November 11:- In the backdrop of the state government deciding to allow only green crackers during this Deepavali, all the shops at eight different places will be asked to follow the guidelines without fail. Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has already asked the stall owners to strictly adhere to the advice.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday (November 11), MCC Zone 6 Assistant Commissioner H Nagaraj said, “Given the pandemic situation, over-crowding near cracker stalls is disallowed. There will be only 12 stalls at J K Grounds, unlike the previous year.”

He said, “Stalls are getting ready at J K Grounds and other places in the city and as such, one has to follow Covid-19 guidelines strictly. Social distancing norm and the wearing of face masks should be strictly followed. Covid test is a must before people are allowed to buy crackers.”

A meeting of the Assistant Commissioners of all the MCC zones has already been held. In a day or two, there will be a directive from the MCC on the number of stalls to be set up in the city.

MCC Commissioner Gurudutta Hegde said, “J K Grounds has been allowed to set up only 12 stalls and sell only green crackers. The Pollution Control Board has already been asked to issue guidelines to the sellers.” (MR, Inputs: Agencies)
