Pickpocket, chain snatching cases: Two inter-state thieves arrested

Mysuru, November 2:- Commissioner of Police had formed a team of city police and CCB Police to investigate theft cases which were reported during Dasara festivities. The special team arrested a woman near KSRTC Bus Terminal on October 25 and another woman at VLS Lodge on October 30.

The arrested have been identified as Usha Rani, 40 and Roopa, 24 of Vellur District in Tamil Nadu. They were involved in pick pocketing and chain snatching cases in the city. The police have recovered 244-gram gold worth Rs 7.3 lakh and Rs 45,050 in cash from the duo.

The arrest has solved two theft cases field at Devaraja Police Station, one case at Lashkar Police Station and another at Kuvempunagar Police Station. Usha Rani was earlier arrested by Bengaluru RMC Yard Police in July and was out on bail but continued to follow her old profession.

The operation was led by DCP Dr Vikram Amathe and CCB ACP B R Lingappa and carried out by Inspector Jagadish and staff. (MR/KS)
