Mysuru, July 19:- “The Mysuru Dasara Exhibition should be held throughout the year in order to attract more visitors to develop tourism,” said Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh here on Wednesday.
He was speaking at the meeting of Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA). He went through the master plan prepared by E and Y organisation for the development of the exhibition.
“The exhibition can be divided into three parts. Shops, cultural events, and amusement park. When tourists come to Mysuru, they visit the Mysuru Palace and then plan to go to the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. We are planning to make them visit the exhibition as well. Three-floor parking facility will be put in place to provide free parking for the tourists,” the minister said.
Chief Executive Officer of KEA Shashikumar explained the civil and electrical works related to the Dasara 2018.
The minister said that rented generators can be used this year and the authorities should be able to own generators in the coming years.
“We are planning to observe Mysuru Dasara in a special way. A job fair will be held in the month of October to provide employment to the needy. Government holidays will be declared on October 18 and 19. October 20 will be Saturday. If the government declares a holiday on Saturday, tourists will get 4 days of holidays and they can tour Mysuru,” Mahesh added.
He said that he would discuss with the officials of KSTDC regarding the possible changes in Golden Chariot which remained unaltered in the past 10 years.
Director of Tourism Department Ramu, secretary TK Anil Kumar, Executive Director of KSTDC Kumar Pushkar, executive director of Jungle Lodges Vijay Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and others were present. (MR/KS).
