Krishnaraja BJP organised ‘Gida nedi, Parisara ulisi’ campaign at Dr Gangubai Hanagal Music and performing arts University, Lakshmipuram. Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr Sarvamangala Shankar planted a sapling to inaugurate the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, she said, “The total forest area of the state is brought down from 33℅ to 22℅. We are seeing the after effects of this in the form of draught, lack of water, natural disasters. It is essential for all of us to plant saplings and look after them. The saplings planted in the premises of the university will be looked after by a student each,” said the vice chancellor.
“During last summer, the temperature of Mysuru was 45 degree. We humans are directly responsible for this. Due to our activities, ozone layer is depleting. It is also affecting the health of all. We are unable to find fresh air in cities. We only have to solve this problem by planting saplings and looking after them” said,” Krishnaraja BJP president and member of Mysuru city corporation V B Manjunath
