Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting was held at Divisional Railway Manager office here on Friday.
Members from all the districts coming under the Mysuru region took part and discussed issues concerning their respective districts.
Sudhakar S Shetty, member of the committee, requested the DRUCC Chairman Atul Gupta, the divisional railway manager, to introduce express trains between Mysuru-Mangaluru, stating that there were more than 50 high-tech buses plying to Mangaluru from Mysuru every day.
Responding to the question, the railway officials pointed out that as Mysuru-Mangaluru route comes under ghat section, it is not convenient for fast trains. “The trains, which are running now, travel at 30kmph in ghat section. Introducing express trains in same route would affect goods trains,” they said.
Shetty said that Chamundi Express, running between Mysuru-Bengaluru is overcrowded most of the days. He requested the concerned authorities to introduce more trains for the convenience of the passengers.
Railway officials Vinayak R Nayak, SR DOM, C M Ranganath, SR DEN, K Anilkumar, SR DCM, Ravichandra, Deputy CE, others were present.
The DRM Atul Gupta said that the railways is spending Rs 2,600 crore for various works during 2016-17.
