Mysuru, July 4:- Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) members staged a protest on Saturday (July 4), demanding the arrest of Bogadi village panchayat member Dinesh who had assaulted a pourakarmika, Cheluva.
The protesters, who had gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here, said that the village panchayat member has been behaving like a goon and mentally and physically harassed pourakarmikas of the panchayat. They said that he abused and assaulted Cheluva near Siddarameshwara Convention Centre and threatened to kill him if he complained to anyone.
They said that Dinesh tried to drive over Cheluva with his car on June 24 at around 8:30 am and slapped him hard after Cheluva escaped the murder attempt. They said that Dinesh again threatened Cheluva.
The protesters said that a criminal case has been registered against Dinesh at Saraswathipuram Police Station under SC/ST Act of 1989 and IPC section 323, 504, and 506. They alleged that the police still have not arrested Dinesh even after so many cases have been registered against him. They urged the police to immediately arrest Dinesh.
State convener Harihara Anandaswamy, district convener Alagudu Dr Chandrashekar, Pailwan Krishna, S Nagaraj, Chakrapani, Mahadev and others were present. (MR/KS)
