Plea to ban mining around KRS

Mysuru, September 29:- “We welcome the decision of Mandya district administration which has prohibited mining around KRS dam understanding the harm it would cause to the dam. We request the administration to stay firm at any cost,” said the secretary of Rajya Raitha Sangha, Badagalapura Nagendra at a press meet at Mysuru press club on Friday.

“Mining around the hills near KRS is spoiling the nature. It has also impacted KRS. Former leader Puttannaiah too had protested against it. Just because the relatives of minister C S Puttaraju are involved in mining, CM H D Kumaraswamy should not permit them. It should be announced as a reserved area. The government should provide facilities to the families dependent on mining,” he added.

“It is unfortunate that a person committed suicide being unable to bear the expenses of his father’s treatment. Such incidents should not occur. The government should introduce health scheme effectively to avoid such happenings,” he said.

Nagendra requested the government to implement the loan waiver effectively as soon as possible.

He urged the government to take measures to avoid draught situation in Kodagu. He said that Raitha Sangha is organising Vidhana Soudha chalo in the coming days in which more 50,000 farmers are expected to take part.
