Mysuru, June 23:- Karnataka State Dalita Sangharsha Samiti staged a protest on Tuesday, condemning the state government’s proposed amendment to Land Reforms Act of 1974.
The protesters said that former chief minister D Devaraja Urs introduced the Land Reforms Act to provide land to the landless people. They called it a revolutionary Act.
They said that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is trying to snatch land from farmers and hand it to rich industrialists and capitalists. They urged farmers to stand in solidarity to fight against this.
They called upon the public to protest against the new APMC Act amendment and Land Reforms Act amendment which are harmful to the state. They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to be forwarded to the government
Mallesh Chunchanahalli, Rajanna, Hanumanthu, Suresh, Nagaraj, Puttaswamy, Govindaraju and others were present. (MR/KS)
