Plea to implement Dr. Sarojini Mahishi report on jobs for Kannadigas

To Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Governor Vajubhai Vala

By Jithendra Kumar H C

Mysuru: The state government should implement the Dr Sarojini Mahishi report recommendation on ensuring employment for Kannadigas in Public Sector Undertakings (PSU’s), private companies and Multi-National Companies (MNCs). Kannada organisations are holding dharnas/protests from many years during Karnataka / Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations (1st November 2018 to 30th November 2018) demanding the report implementation.

Dr Sarojini Mahishi is best known for heading the committees appointed by the government of Karnataka in 1983 to recommend criteria for reservation in employment in the State. Submitting the recommendations in 1986, the committee recommended that a major percentage of employment in Karnataka should be reserved for local people. Majority of personnel officers in all Industrial units in Karnataka should be Kannadigas.

“If you do not forward this email to “Kannada Development Authority which is a separate department established by the government of Karnataka to oversee that the accepted recommendations of Dr Sarojini Mahishi report are implemented in Karnataka effectively, then I will file Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against you in the High Court.”

(The writer is one of the victims of the partisan attitude of many private companies and MNCs).
