Plea to withdraw sugarcane pricing control board

Mysuru, June 4:- Akhila Karnataka Kabbu Belegarara Sangha has urged the government to withdraw sugarcane pricing control board which is of no help for the farmers.

“Farmers are having a tough time due to lack of rain. But the state government is showing anti-farmer mindset,” said the secretary of the organisation, Halemirle Sunay Gowda at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Monday.

“We condemn the central government’s decision to provide Rs 6,000 to farmers per annum. The government has not consulted the farmers before taking that decision. It is an attempt to appease farmers. Instead of giving this money to farmers, utilise it for irrigation projects in the country. Take it as the contribution of farmers,” he added.

“Sri Rama Cooperative Sugar Factory should be restarted soon. The government should release a white paper on the land given to companies in the state. All the canals should be cleaned up before the end of June,” he added.

MS Rajendra, G Marahalli Manju, KP Shivaraju, Jagadish, Shivanna and others were present. (MR/KMR)
