PM should intervene in Mayadayi row: Doreswamy

Prime News, State, (Bengaluru), January 1:-Freedom fighter and noted social activist H S Doreswamy on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring an amicable settlement for the decade-old Mahadayi river water sharing row, asking for a meaningful settlement outside the Tribunal verdict.

Speaking at a function here, he said it was the right time for the Prime Minister to intervene and come to the rescue of people of four districts in North Karnataka, who were suffering for over three decades.

He said whether “we are politicians or an ordinary person, we should have concern for the sufferings of common people.

Why should people suffer because of differences among the political leaders. Is it not our duty to solve the issue and get them the basic need of drinking water?

“Karnataka is asking for utilisation of its share of water, as per the Tribunal direction.
