Police cane-charge Cong workers during Hunsur by-polls

Mysuru, December 6:- Congress workers of Hunsur Constituency shouted slogans against the police during the Hunsur by-elections held on Thursday.

The police instructed the party workers to move away from polling booth at Karigowdana beedhi in Hunsur following which the party workers got into an argument with the police. The police allegedly tried to snatch the cell phone from a Congress worker. Enraged by this, the Congress party workers shouted slogans against police and alleged that they were working as per the directions from Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.

Congress district president BJ Vijay Kumar and H D MLA Anil Chikkamadu allegedly spoke to Deputy SP Sundar Raj distastefully. ASP Sneha intervened and tried to calm the situation and the police to cane-charge the workers on Karigowdana beedhi. Abhishek, a Congress worker who was injured in the incident is being treated at Hunsur Government Hospital. (KS, NGB)
