Police Department is not facing political pressure: CoP KT Balakrishna

Mysuru, December 20:- The Commissioner of Police KT Balakrishna had instructed all the organisations not to stage protest rallies in the city as Section 144 is in force. The commissioner held a meeting with the leaders of various organisations as they staged protest despite ban orders being imposed.

“At first place, you gave permission to protest with conditions. We agreed to your conditions. But we condemn the decision of the Police Department to clamp Section 144 all of a sudden on Wednesday night. It clearly shows that the Police Department is under political pressure,” said social activist SR Hiremath at the meeting.

“Section 144 has not only been clamped in Mysuru district, but also across the state. Prohibitory orders have been clamped as per the advice of state home ministry. The police department is not under any political pressure on it,” clarified the commissioner of police.

Members of the progressive organisations alleged that the police department has not allowed peaceful protests but has allowed anti social elements to create disharmony in the society and warned of continued protests despite denial of permission. Senior police officials and leaders of progressive organisations were present. (KS, NGB)
