An interaction programme was held on the ways and means to prevent crimes against merchants of the city on July 20. The programme was organised by Mysore Grain Merchants Association and the city police briefed the merchants about the precautionary measures to be taken.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Rudramuni, ACP Mallik, KR Circle Inspector Raghu told the merchants to avoid being targeted by criminals.
It may be mentioned here that on June 16, two traders who were returning home from APMC Yard after their daily business were robbed of Rs 2 lakh by bike-borne miscreants on the Ring Road near JP Nagar. The victims Sharath and Veeresh were assaulted and abandoned on the road. They were later admitted to a private hospital by some passers-by who saw them injured on the road.
The police team asked the merchants not to carry huge cash late in the night and become victims.
APMC Secretary Mahesh, Traders Association President B L Ramesh, Vice President S Prakash, Honorary Secretary R Anand, Treasurer M N Basavaraju and Joint Secretary K T Shyamsundar and others were present.
