Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, D Randeep held a precautionary meeting on Thursday, prior to the state bandh called by various organisations.
DC ordered the officials to provide the city with enough protection and to have control over the situation. Transportation facility should be provided to the people to prevent any casualties among the public.
Speaking on the occasion, DCP Shekhar said that the areas where the Kannada organisations are more active are identified and security will be tightened in those areas. The offices of state and central governments will be given protection. “Police will provide necessary security to any organisation or public if required during the protest,” he said.
“T Narasipura and Nanjangud taluks have more irrigation land. The people of these taluks may take part in the protest more in numbers. Extra care should be given in the two taluks,” said the DC.
As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges will remain closed.
He appealed to the KSRTC officials to provide public with bus facility, so that the public won’t have to suffer. Depending on the impact of the protest, the movement of buses will be decided said the authorities of the urban and rural divisions of KSRTC.
“If anyone harms the public property in the name of bandh, strict action will be taken against them. People should report such incidents to the DC control room, by calling 0821-2423800,” he added.
APARA DC T Venkatesh, Mysuru sub divisional officer C L Anand, Hunsur sub divisional officer Soujanya, MUDA officer Dr M Mahesh and officials of various departments were present during the meeting.
