Police thwart murder attempt on GP members; two arrested

Gang attacks duo, damages car and flees with gold chains, bracelet and cell phones worth over Rs 2 lakh
 An attempt to murder two members of Kumbarahalli Mutt Gram Panchayat (GP) by a five-member gang was foiled by the timely intervention of Mandi Police Inspector Talwar and PSI Keshavamurthy at around 1.30 am on Monday near the ESI Hospital.
However, the accused gang members damaged the windscreen of the Honda Hasta car (KA 55 M 7521) and the car occupants – Mahadev J and Puttamadu, both GP members, escaped with minor injuries. The gang members beat up the duo and robbed of their gold chains, a bracelet and two cell phones worth about Rs 2 lakh. The victims were proceeding to their friend’s house in B M Shri Nagar when they were attacked by the gang members.
The police managed to nab accused Vijay and Nagaraj while the three other accused Shivamurthy, Harish and Govindaraju are still at large. Police have a launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
Police officers Talwar and Keshavamurthy who were on their night rounds noticed the suspicious movement of vehicles in the middle of the night and swung into action to save the duo Mahadev and Puttamadu from being brutally attacked. The alleged murder attempt on the duo was a pre-planned attack by the gang members, it is learnt.
An old enmity involving Javanegowda, son of Mahadev, is said to be the cause for attack on the duo as they had won four times in the GP elections. Mahadev and Puttamadu are residents of Uttanahalli.
The duo underwent medical examination at K R Hospital in the city as per the directions from Mysuru South Rural Police Inspector Mahesh and PSI Mahesh. V V Puram Police has registered a case and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, Mahadev in a complaint lodged with the V V Puram Police and Mysuru South Rural Police has sought police protection to him and his family fearing threat to their lives.
