Polling officers head to their respective booths after postal vote

Mysuru, May 11:-With barely a day to go for the Assembly elections, polling officials who have been appointed for election duty, are heading towards their respective polling booths.

There are 1,80,411 voters in 225 booths of Periyapattana. K R Nagar has 2,04,115 voters in 248 booths. Hunsur has 2,24,558 voters in 263 booths. 2,14,874 voters are there in 238 booths of H D Kote. Nanjanagudu constituency has 2,09,121 voters in 238 booths. Chamundeshwari constituency has 2,95,815 voters in 310 booths. Krishnaraja constituency has 2,47,082 voters in 223 booths. Chamaraja constituency has 2,35,647 voters in 213 booths. Narasimharaja constituency has 2,62,300 voters in 220 booths. Varuna constituency has 2,21,050 voters in 257 booths. T Narasipura has 1,98,434 voters in 218 booths.

Among the 11 constituencies of the district, Periyapattana constituency has 10 candidates, K R Nagar has 9, Hunsur has 15, H D Kote has 7, Nanjanagudu has 10 and Chamundeshwari has 15, Krishnaraja has 19 candidates, Chamaraja has 14, Narasimharaja has 15, Varuna has 23 candidates, and T Narasipura has 10 candidates.

Around 24 pink booths are established in the district for women voters.

The officials, who have  been appointed for the election duty, exercised their franchise today itself. The Election Commission has made sure that all the officials are present on the important day. Officials who have unavoidable reasons to skip the duty have been given permission only after submitting required valid documents. (MR/KS).
