Mysuru, November 22:- A tense situation prevailed in the city today as various progressive organisations had called for ‘Mysuru Bandh’ and the activists tried to forcefully close shops on D Devaraj Urs Road.
The Dalit organisations had called for Mysuru Bandh on Wednesday demanding arrest of former MLC G Madhusudhan over his alleged derogatory remarks against the Indian Constitution recently. Hundreds of protesters took out a bike rally on major roads of the city and demanded the arrest of Madhusudhan.
The agitators on entering the busy Devaraj Urs Road allegedly demanded the owners to shut down the shops in support of the protest. Timely intervention of police prevented the agitators to forcefully shut down the shops.
The protesters even tried to stop the KSRTC bus services near the KSRTC Suburban Bus Terminal and were thwarted by the alert police.
Urilingi Peddi Mutt’s Jnanaprakash Shivayogi Swamiji and various other leaders took part in the protest and blamed the police officers for not allowing them to observe Mysuru Bandh.
Despite the warning from Mysuru Commissioner of Police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao that there is no permission for any bandh in the city, these incidents created a tension situation among the people for some time.
