Mysuru, March 16:- “Poor people should not lose lives because of unavailability or shortage of medicines,” said Union Minister of State (MoS) for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Lakshman Bhai Mandaviya.
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Centre at University Layout at Lingambudhi Palya in the city on Friday morning.
“Jan Aushadhi Centres function to provide medicines at a lower price to the public. Medicines here are 50% cheap compared to medicines available at other medical stores. More than 3,300 centres have been opened in the country so far. Eight hundred types medicines are available at Jan Aushadhi Centres and we aim at increasing it to 1,000,” said the minister.
Former minister and BJP leader S A Ramadas, Kote Shivanna, Hemanth and others were present. (KS, MR)
