Population is not a curse; it needs to be converted as human resource: Prof C Basavaraju

“Increase in the population cannot be considered just as a problem for the country. The increase in population, also improves the human resource of the nation. But it depends on the effective usage of the human resources,” said sub registrar of University of Mysore, Prof C Basavaraju.

He was speaking after inaugurating the book release programme of ‘Sparsha Janapada’ by Budha international award winner Dr M Kannika, held at B M Shree auditorium of the department of Kuvempu Kannada studies, University of Mysore.

“The author has stated in her book that the increase in population has brought down the development drastically. The increase in population also increases the human resources of the country. It enables the development of scientific analysis and researches. Using the human resources in a constructive manner is most important,” he opined.

“The books which have literature in them, explains the sharp truths of the society, such books contribute a lot to the constructive development of the society. We read a lot of books, but all the books cannot be considered equally. We just glance some, but some require in-depth study. In her book, Dr Kannika has explained various phases of the society. Earlier the population was less, but the death rate was high. Today the population is increasing rapidly, but death rate has reduced a lot. She explains the reasons for this in her book,” he appreciated.

Dean of Science departments, Dr A Balasubramanian released the book. President of Mysuru Sahitya Parishath Dr Y D Rajanna, Director of Kuvempu Kannada studies Prof Prethi Srimandhar Kumar, Prof Vijaya Kumari, S Karikal and the author Dr M Kannika were present.
