Mysuru, January 23:- A person named Siddappa, dressed as a police officer, visited the house of one Narayana Gowda on Om Shakti Road at Shakti Nagar and said his son Renuka Gowda misbehaved with one woman and escaped. Siddappa further said that he has a case against Renuka Gowda and asked for Rs 50,000 to close the case against him. Though Narayana Gowda asked in which branch Siddappa was working, he threatened to arrest Narayana Gowda and his family members.
Narayana Gowda gave him Rs 5,000 in cash and said he would get the balance amount from the bank. Suspecting his behaviour, Narayana Gowda went to Udayagiri Police Station and filed a complaint. The police came to his house and grilled Siddappa. He first said that he was working as sub-inspector at Intelligence Bureau but later confessed to faking as a police officer. Udayagiri Police took him into custody.
He is identified as Siddappa Channabasappa Nyamakkanavara, 27, a native of Haveri District and he had collected information about the family members of Narayana Gowda and tried to trick them. Police have seized Etios car and the cash.
The operation was carried out by Udayagiri Police Inspector Santhosh, PSI Jaikeerthi, ASI Sannappa and staffs Suresh, Siddiq Ahmed, Krishna, Anand Kumar, Gopal and Shazia Banu. (MR/KS)
