Prasad likely to hold a public meeting to counter his critics
Former minister V Srinivasa Prasad is expected to make a decision on his next political move soon. After his decision to leave the Congress, he has been saying that he would decide on his next political move soon after discussing with his fans and followers.
BJP leaders are after Prasad to join their ranks and Prasad is expected to give a nod in their favour, say sources. Veteran BJP leader L K Advani, BJP National President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other leaders have held talks with Prasad and convinced him to join their party. No sooner he decided to say goodbye to the Congress, Rajnath had asked BJP leaders to visit Prasad to offer him an invitation to join their party.
Besides BJP, even JD(S) leaders are also trying to woo Prasad to join them. Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has told Prasad that he would campaign for him during the by-polls. Prasad, however, needs all the support as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken it as a personal challenge to cut the Dalit leader size whenever the by-poll is held.
Given this scenario, Prasad is likely to hold a meeting with his supporters at Nanjangud to be battle-ready.
According to sources, Prasad will hold discussions with the BJP high command and might announce joining it along with his supporters after Deepavali. He is also likely to seek support from the anti-Congress leaders to face the by-poll. He has also made it clear to the BJP leaders that he would not compromise on his ideology even if he joins them.
