Prasad’s long journey with Congress ends

Former minister, veteran Congress leader V Srinivas Prasad handed over his resignation letter as MLA to the Vidhana Sabha Speaker K B Koliwad. He visited the Speaker’s chamber at 12:00 pm on Monday and gave his letter of resignation.

After submitting the letter, he reportedly requested the Speaker to accept his resignation.

After receiving the letter, Koliwad said he had received the resignation letter of Prasad. If the reason for the resignation is acceptable, he would oblige the resignation.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is working like a dictator. He has not given any reason for dropping me from the cabinet. I had worked well as a revenue minister and I am ready to discuss about the work I have done. I helped Siddaramaiah grow politically and he betrayed me. Along with my resignation as MLA, I quit from the membership of Congress. I wouldn’t have felt sad if anyone else had betrayed me, but I had helped Siddaramaiah when his political career was at stake,” said Prasad.

“I  will tread carefully now. I have not yet decided about contesting the by-election. BJP and JDS have contacted me and asked me to join their party. I will think over it and come to a decision,” he said.

He was accompanied by his well-wishers, party workers and fans.
