Mysuru, June 13:- Member of Parliament Pratap Simha inspected the Vijayanagar water tank which is being constructed under Amrut Scheme here on Tuesday.
“The construction of drinking water tanks at Vijayanagar was undertaken two years ago under Amrut Scheme. Now, the work has come to a final stage. The tank has a storage capacity of 4.3 crore litres of water. It will help supply of water to Vijayanagar, Hebbal, TK Layout, Saraswathipuram, Ramakrishna Nagar and other areas. The tank will be inaugurated on June 30,” he added.
“Water will be supplied to some of the areas at the same time. Pipeline repair work is under way. It will save 18 MLD of water. Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra has been collecting information regarding the work after being elected as the MLA. He used to pressurise the officials as people were asking him regarding the status of the water tank. Due to his continuous efforts, the work has come to the final stage,” he added.

“Amrut Scheme has been planned according to the need of 2021. The expected population of the city by 2021 is 13,43,000. It requires 274 MLD of drinking water. Rs 156 crore has been provided for the scheme. The project was approved in the council meeting of April 26, 2016. The work began on April 18, 2018, and will be completed this month. The entire project has four packages and will be completed by December 2019. Rs 77.68 crore has been spent on the project so far. (MR/HN)
