Mysuru, June 4:- District In-charge Minister GT Devegowda has said that International Yoga Day will be held successfully in the city this year as well. He was speaking at the preliminary meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here on Tuesday.
“June 21 is being observed as International Yoga Day. The event was successfully held at the Mysuru Race Course last year. This year too, the event will be held in a similar way. More than one lakh yoga experts will take part this time. All the preparations have been made already and are getting final touches,” he added.
“We are trying to bring Union ministers for the event. Various organisations have requested us to try for a world record. But the preparation is not adequate for that. Next time, we will give proper training and attempt for Guinness record. School children, college students, government employees and members of organisations will be trained. Rehearsal for the event will be held on Sunday. Information on how many people will participate will be given,” he added.
Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, MLAs SA Ramadass, L Nagendra, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath, DC Abhiram G Sankar, Commissioner of Police K T Balakrishna, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag and others were present. (MR/KS)
