Prices of fruits, flowers skyrocket on eve of Ganesha festival

Prime News, Karnataka, Festival, Finance, Mysuru, September 9:-  With the state government permitting the toned-down celebration of the Ganesha festival, the people of Mysuru have been cautious in their approach. But despite knowing there would be a slump in business, most of the flower and fruit vendors on Thursday (September 9) increased the prices much to the disappointment of the customers.

The prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have already hit them hard, But the prices of fruits and flowers on the eve of the Ganesha festival must have come as a rude shock to the households.

One kg of kanakambara was being sold at Rs Rs 1,200 per kg and jasmine was available at Rs 800. Kakada and suganda raja were available at Rs 600 and Rs 400 per kg respectively. Rose was available at Rs 300 per kg. Lotus flower was being sold at Rs 30 per piece.

Prices of fruits also hit the roof with apples being sold at Rs 140 per kg and pomegranate at Rs 150 per kg. Banana was being sold at Rs 80 per kg. Most other fruits also turned out to be costly for the customers. (MR/KS/SH)
