Uttar Pradesh (UP) police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested the prime accused along with two other accomplices in last month’s Bulandshahr gang rape of a woman and her teenage daughter.
Late Monday night, the director general of police (DGP) tweeted about the arrest of Salim Bawariya head of a gang from Rajasthan.
Officials also informed that the special task force (STF) of UP Police nabbed the prime accused from Meerut. Following the leads given by Bawaria, his two other accomplices Zubair and Sajid Chamaria were arrested by the STF from Mawana.
During the interrogation, the police claimed, the gang members have admitted of having committed more than two dozen such crimes on highways.
The mother-daughter were to record their statement on Monday but as the girl was not well the statement recording was deferred.
